TOGETHER: In class assignment — Measurements and spacing practice
You will be given a printout of some printed text samples. Using a pica ruler, document and measure the following:
Typeface classification
Typographic style
Paragraph alignment
Point size/Leading, &
Line measure.
For example: Sans serif, bold italic, centered, 12/16 12p6

For more individual practice in type measurements and spacing, please click here on this link for your in class, individual practice. Using your sample, document and measure the following:
Typeface
Typographic style
Paragraph alignment
Point size/Leading, &
Line measure.
For example: Gill Sans, bold italic, centered, 12/16 12p6
After you are done with the above, track, letter space, and/or kern the Chapter headline(s).
Properly balance ragged lines and/or manage forced justified paragraphs.
Bring in your answers/print out to this class assignment next week.
HOMEWORK
Part 1: Refine and finish your design. Remember to work on your letter, word and line spacing. Bring color print outs of:
Your mood board
Your first iteration
Your final project
Your typeface classification/anatomy
Part 2: Make a PDF file which includes:
Your mood board
Your sketches
Your first iteration
Your digital final and
Your type anatomy/classification.
You will drop your composite PDF into my drop folder
and hand in your print outs.
