Homework: Prelims (Preliminaries) a.k.a. Front Matter
Refine your Chapter Opening & Chapter Spread
Review your book‘s front matter and generate the page sequence you will need for your design. It will be helpful to create a sketch of page layout order before jumping into Indesign. Begin with the half title and include all of the pages up to page 1 of the chapter opening.
Sketch some examples of how you might layout each page of your front matter. Choose a layout format and translate it to Indesign.
Useful reminder: Transfer the X/Y coordinates of your top guideline/margins from your chapter opening and your chapter spread. These lines can be used as text placement guides for the Foreward, Imprint Page (Copyright), Introduction, etc.
Bring in your digital files for next week.
