In class:
Review magazine covers and masthead design samples. Review stylistic variety and trends for table of contents pages.
Brainstorming and Masthead Design.
Demo: Indesign. Setting up your magazine cover. Blurb demo
BREAK
Review TOC samples. Review what is needed in a TOC design.
Creating digital comps with Photoshop plug-ins like PSDcovers.com
Homework:
1. Using the template below, generate sketches for potential masthead logotypes. Most likely your designs will be a letter mark or word mark. Circle your top 3 choices. Take those three choices and generate more sketches/variations. Bring all of your work to class next week for review.
2. Design a sample cover and a TOC based off of your established style/concept board. Place rough version(s) of your masthead(s) into your design. Print digital roughs for next week.
3. Magazine production for your remaining articles.
